N.A.S.C. HOUSE LEAGUE/SELECT PROGRAM
Oshawa N.A.S.C. Hockey will continue to offer its participants the opportunity
to play House League/Select Hockey.
As an extension of our recreational
house league, our Select program will continue to offer a more competitive level
of play in a structured environment. Age groups will be determined based on the
interest and viability of the division.
Falcons select teams at the
6-year old "Super Six" and 7-year old "Super Novice" age groups will offer the
benefit of playing within a structured league, participating in the York-Simcoe
Select League for the 2011 season in addition to their regular program. This
past season, both of our teams participated in the OMHA finals!
All players are given an equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills to a
panel which consists of members of the Select committee and the coaching staff.
The N.A.S.C. Select Program is a privilege. All players who sign are
required to provide a $100.00 registration fee. (this fee covers operating costs
such as insurance and shirts and a large portion of this amount is typically returned
to the team upon completion of the season and return of the league supplied
jerseys)
Typical costs for each team is approx. $400.00/season with some teams
participating in discretionary fundraising activities as agreed upon by each
team.
All N.A.S.C. Select teams/players are carded as "Rostered
Select" and will not participate in a "league". (*Exceptions: Super Six, Super
Novice)
N.A.S.C. Select teams are based on the "grass roots" concept of
the "All-Star" or "Tournament" team. N.A.S.C. Select teams will participate in
"exhibition" games/series and varied tournaments.
Select teams are run
independent of their house league affiliates and all players are responsible to
provide ice fees to both teams. All players MUST fulfill their obligation to
their house league team first and are required to fully participate on both
teams. Failure to do so can and will result in removal of this privilege.
**You MUST be an Oshawa resident in order to
participate/play on a Select team.
Rostered Select is governed by OMHA and
is equivalent to rep hockey when having to be resident compliant in order to
participate. Import status is only granted to rep hockey at the AA and AAA
levels.
Select tryouts begin the 2nd week of October of the current season. Notices will
be posted in the arenas notifying of when the tryouts will take place.
