Respect-In-Sport - Parent Program (MANDATORY)

 

This course MUST be completed once you have registered your child.

 

NOTE:

N.A.S.C. Hockey does not have a preregistration code.

All parents must provide the $12 course fee

The Respect in Sport for Activity Leader/Coach Program offers an engaging and easy to use internet-based training course for sport leaders of all levels. The intent of this training is to:

  • Empower and educate youth leaders/coaches on the prevention of abuse, bullying and harassment.

  • Build a holistic culture of respect within the sport community.

  • Provide fundamental training tools which enable ALL coaches and youth leaders to become even better role models for the young athletes in their care.

 

In Canadian hockey, over 230,200 coaches are certified by Respect Group Inc.

Frequently asked questions about Respect in Sport for coaches and activity leaders

Q: What is Respect in Sport?
A: The Respect in Sport Activity Leader/Coach Program is the program hockey coaches need to train youth leaders to recognize, understand and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination.

Q: How do I sign up for and take the Respect in Sport online course?
A: You need to sign up through your local member branch. Find your member branch coaching contact.

Q: I took Respect in Sport with another sport. Do I have to take it again?
A: No. However, you will have register your certificate number. "Parent" for parent and "Coach" for coach.

Q: I have taken the Speak Out course. Do I need to take Respect in Sport?
A: No. Speak Out is grandfathered in as Respect in Sport Activity Leader/Coach. However, completion of the Speak Out program does not cover Respect in Sport for Parents.

* MANDATORY GENDER IDENTITY AND GENDER EXPRESSION ONLINE TRAINING REQUIRED FOR ALL BENCH STAFF

 

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association has announced the launch of a new training module for ALL team officials, to support trans-inclusive hockey in Ontario, Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression. This no cost course must be completed before a staff member can take part in a team event or be placed onto a roster.

This training is a mandatory requirement sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF)


All team officials require an eHockey account in the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) to register for and complete the two Modules. Once completed, notification will be posted to the team officials’ member profile on the HCR. 

In order to complete the first step is to ensure that all team officials have an eHockey account with Hockey Canada to sign up for the required clinic. Those who do not already have an eHockey account can click the following link to login and sign up for the course.

Please note: eHockey has since been replaced and is now a part of the new HCR 3.0 website. As such, you will be required to create a new account....
